Our 2025 theme “Boots on Deck” captures AMCC’s community-based approach to stewardship and sustainable economies. We work to empower community-based fishermen and ocean leaders as integral drivers of marine conservation. We can’t wait to see those stunning images you’ve been taking all year! 🏆 First place winners in each category will be awarded $50, second place/runners up in each category will be awarded $25. All winners receive one copy each of our newly published Alaska Young Fishermen’s Almanac, Vol. 3.
Terms & Conditions
Eligibility
The AMCC Photo Contest is open to both professional and amateur photographers. To be eligible to enter this contest, the entrant must have reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry. This contest is not open to AMCC staff or their relations. By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to AMCC’s Photo Contest rules and agrees their entry complies with all requirements set out in the rules. Participants are also responsible for making sure entries comply with their local laws. This contest is void where prohibited.
Editing & Adjusting Your Images
You may adjust and edit your image(s) to optimize the visuals. Aspects such as cropping, brightness, contrast, and color balance can all be adjusted. Color and black and white media can be submitted. Image(s)with overlaying watermarks or captions is not permissible.
Judging Information
Your photos will be judged by AMCC’s panel of judges. The images will be primarily judged on quality and how well the photograph conveys our core theme: “Boots on Deck” within each category. This is a skill-based contest and chance plays no part in the determination of winners or finalists. All judges will be appointed by AMCC. The Winners and Finalists will be determined by the judges in accordance with the competition rules. Their decision is final on all matters relating to the competition. AMCC will not enter into any correspondence regarding the judging or organization of the competition. The judging will take place following the close of the contest.

AMCC neither assumes nor bears any responsibility for any form or type of loss, damage, or injury incurred as a result of participating in AMCC Photo Contest and receiving of awards and/or prizes. Content of all images submitted is the responsibility of each entrant. It is the responsibility of each entrant to obtain all relevant model and/or property releases. By submitting images, each entrant assures that all media is their original works and no copyright and/or trademark infringement rights have been violated. It is not the responsibility of AMCC to obtain model and/or property release forms or to assure/examine protection of trademark infringement rights.

The contest is limited to three entries per person. Participants can enter photos in any of the categories so long as they abide by the contest rules. We will welcome additional photo contributions to support our communications efforts. If you'd like to share more, please email them to emily@akmarine.org with a brief description (including location & fishery) and your preferred credit. Our standard format is ©Name/Title.

Contestants agree that all subjects in the images (youth and adult) are giving consent and/or a guardian has given permission to be photographed.

Right to Cancel
AMCC reserves the right to cancel or suspend the contest if it is not capable of continuing as planned for any reason that is beyond the control of AMCC’s..
Changes to the Rules
AMCC reserves the right to make modifications to the contest terms and conditions. Changes made to the contest will be posted on this website in the Rules section.
Reproduction & Usage Rights
AMCC reserves the right to free reproduction and altering of all photo/video submissions. AMCC obtains the right to share photo/video submissions. For each entered image/video, AMCC will have unlimited usage rights in perpetuity for all formats and in all locations. When a photo/video is submitted to the AMCC Photo Contest it immediately becomes considered an AMCC asset. Images may be used in AMCC materials including, but not limited to, social media, e-newsletters, print materials, and website.
