Alaska Marine Conservation Council is thrilled to announce that Jamie O'Connor, former AMCC staff member and long-time ally, is back with us through her consulting business!
Jamie has been a part of the AMCC community since 2017, contributing her expertise in commercial fishing, marine policy, communications and community organizing to drive impactful change for Alaska's working waterfronts. Jamie participated in AMCC’s first cohort of Alaska Young Fishing Fellows. She then joined the staff, first as a community organizer and policy analyst, followed by her service as Working Waterfronts Director and AMCC representative to the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (NPFMC) Advisory Panel. Her work at the time helped shape our programs, strengthen our advocacy efforts and foster resilience within our coastal communities.
“We’re excited to see Jamie’s expertise in action again as she leads work on our Working Waterfronts program, advocates at the NPFMC and supports our communications strategy. Welcome back, Jamie!” - Michelle Stratton, AMCC Executive Director
Since leaving AMCC, Jamie has continued her service to Alaska’s coastal communities and marine ecosystems, serving Alaskans as lead for Senator Murkowski’s “Team Ocean” and earning her MSc with Distinction in Marine Systems and Policies from the University of Edinburgh, U.K. With over two decades of experience in Alaska’s commercial fisheries, communications and marine policy, she now leads Intertidal Consulting, a consultancy that champions community resilience, equity, food security and bridge-building between policymakers and those impacted by decision-making. Jamie’s role as a consultant brings unique perspectives and partnerships that have already benefited AMCC as we advance our mission.
