Taking on the role of Director at AMCC is more than a professional milestone—it is part of a personal journey. For as long as I can remember, the waters of Alaska have held a special place in my heart. Their pristine beauty, the delicate balance of life beneath the surface and the communities that rely on these ecosystems are a source of inspiration and a call to action.
To me, leading AMCC signifies a commitment to protecting these precious resources and advocating for sustainable practices that ensure their future. It's a chance to bring together passionate conservationists, dedicated fishermen and wise Indigenous leaders, uniting our voices in the fight for healthy, thriving marine environments. This role is not just about the day-to-day management but about fostering a sense of responsibility and stewardship within our communities. It's about educating the next generation on the importance of conservation and ensuring that our efforts today pave the way for sustainable, healthy ecosystems and thriving fisheries tomorrow.
Becoming the Director of AMCC allows me to embrace a role that aligns with my values, my passions, my scientific training and experience and my unwavering commitment to marine conservation. It's a journey I am eager to embark on, knowing that every step taken is a step toward supporting a sustainable future for Alaska's marine ecosystems. Together, we can achieve remarkable things, and I am excited to lead this charge.
